Monthly searches
~44k
Searches for the name “copper golem” in the numbers I saved (2026-08-09).
Vs iron golem
~2.8×
Louder than “iron golem” (~16k) on the same name-only list.
I compared how often people search three names: copper golem, iron golem, and Ender Dragon. I used the main term (just the mob’s name, not every how-to search). Need the build steps? Use the copper golem FAQ.
A mob that lost a public vote can still out-search older icons once it ships. Those searches are curiosity and how-to demand, not a “favorite boss” poll.
Copper golem out-searches the old icons
You hear copper golem and picture a little statue walking chests around. Iron golems still stand in villages, and the Ender Dragon still waits in the End. Those older icons have been in the game for years, and copper golem is newer.
I wanted to know how loud the new name is, so I compared monthly searches for the three names on the main term: just “copper golem,” “iron golem,” and “ender dragon,” not every “how to make…” variant. Those monthly counts are search-tool estimates I saved, not a live player count and not how many people own the mob.
| Main search term | Monthly searches |
|---|---|
| copper golem | ~44,000 |
| ender dragon | ~19,000 |
| iron golem | ~16,000 |
Volumes from search numbers I saved (as-of 2026-08-09). Main terms only. Not summed how-to variants.
On those names, copper golem sits near 44,000 monthly searches. That is about 2.8× iron golem (~16,000) and about 2.3× the Ender Dragon (~19,000). People are looking the new mob up. That is not the same as “copper golem beat the dragon in a popularity vote.”

| Ender dragon | 19000 |
| Iron golem | 16000 |
It lost a vote, then shipped anyway
The search heat makes more sense once you know the timeline. Copper golem was not a surprise drop. Players voted on it, it lost, and then it showed up in the game years later.
- 2021-10-13. Announced as mob-vote candidate.
- 2021-10-16. Lost the final round (~45.7%).
- Java 1.21.9 (snapshot 25w31a). Added to the game as a chest-sorting golem.
- Bedrock. Experimental in 1.21.100, fully implemented in 1.21.111.
Losing a vote did not kill the idea. When the mob finally shipped as a chest-sorting golem, people had a new name to type into search. How-to searches like “how to make copper golem” sit on top of the main-term counts. I kept them out of this chart on purpose so the names stay comparable.
On these main terms, copper golem out-searches iron golem and the Ender Dragon. It lost the vote, then still won the search chart later. That is curiosity, not a player-count trophy.

How I calculated it
Volumes from my keyword list (Ahrefs-derived main terms, 2026-08-09). History: Minecraft Wiki Copper Golem. Ratios = 44000÷16000 and 44000÷19000.
Search volume is not the same as players who own the mob. These rows are not Google Trends scores. How-to variants (“how to make copper golem”) add more demand on top. I keep them out of this chart on purpose.
