Real time for the game’s sunset on a normal day cycle.
A clock compare: one normal in-game sunset vs the public Java Any% world-record times I saved. Not a tip for your first Survival world.
Most players take hours or days of real life to beat the game. Top Any% runs finish in under a minute. Shorter than one orange evening in the sky.
1. What Any% and sunset mean here
- Speedrun. A timed race to a finish line, often using tricks that look impossible on a first playthrough.
- Any%. Beat the game’s finish as fast as the rules allow. You do not have to explore everything.
- Sunset. A slice of Minecraft’s day clock (~1,000 ticks ≈ 50 real seconds) when the sky is setting, on a normal 20-minute full day.
Normal story mode for a new player takes hours or days of real life. Any% is a specialist sport with its own rulebook. Think Olympic 100 meters, not “go for a jog.”

3. Why put it next to the sun?
My daylight write-up already shows sunset is only a few percent of a full day cycle. Putting a world record beside that length makes the skill clear:
A top runner can beat the game in less real time than the sky needs to change color once.
In the numbers I saved, the Java Any% #1 (~31.9 s) sits under one normal sunset (~50 s). That is race-category speed, not how most people play.
Do not read Any% as “you should finish Minecraft in 32 seconds.” Most first campaigns are about building, dying, and learning. Records move. Check the live board before treating a time as permanent.
