Do Minecraft’s patch notes look as big as the updates feel?

Players feel every update in the world. Here I count the written change logs: hundreds of Java notes since the late 2010s, and a thinner Bedrock public list in my numbers.

What this is.

A count of public patch-note cards. How often Mojang posted written notes. Not how much fun shipped.

Why it matters.

Think of patch notes as the game’s running change list. A quiet-feeling year still prints a lot of paper if the team ships snapshots and hotfixes in public.

1. How many Java notes each year?

2. Why Bedrock’s list looks thinner

My Bedrock note index holds 49 cards spanning mainly 2021–2023 in this extract. That does not mean “Bedrock barely updates.” It means this particular public list is thinner / shaped differently than the Java note dump. Compare editions carefully.

Takeaway.

Java’s public note pile is huge. Bedrock’s public list in my numbers is thinner. Neither count equals “how big the update felt in the world.”
