Is Minecraft cross platform?

Bedrock Edition is the edition that lets many phones, consoles, and Windows Bedrock play together. Java plays with Java unless you add community bridge software.

What is the difference between Java and Bedrock?

Java is the classic PC/Mac/Linux edition with heavy mod/snapshot culture. Bedrock powers Marketplace cosmetics and multi-device sessions. Full write-up: Java vs Bedrock.

Can Java and Bedrock play together?

Not in vanilla “just join.” Community bridge setups exist. For most friend groups, everyone on Bedrock is the easy path.

What is Minecraft Education?

Education Edition is the classroom product with classroom tools and a different distribution path—not the default “Java & Bedrock for PC” bundle.

Edition note.

Recipes and combat numbers can shift after updates. If something fails in-world, check your version’s patch notes.
