There is no built-in “just join” path between Java and Bedrock. Bridges are community tools.
A who-can-join-whom map for friend groups that mix devices. Account and online-subscription gates still apply on top.
The wrong edition split means someone gets left in the lobby. Realms also do not cross editions.

2. Do Realms cross editions?
Java Realms and Bedrock Realms are separate subscriptions (Realms cost). Buying one does not let the other edition’s friends in.
3. “Java & Bedrock for PC” is still two installs
A PC buy that says both still gives you two products. Saves do not auto-convert just because the listed price said “and.” Deep edition differences: Java vs Bedrock.
Mixed devices → everyone on Bedrock. Vanilla Java and Bedrock do not share a built-in join button.
Platform online subscriptions and Microsoft account linking still apply. Re-check your live store and account gates before you promise a friend they can join. Community bridges are advanced tools, not the vanilla path.
